Dr. Malcolm Tyson

StratAscension is led by Dr. Malcolm Tyson, a strategist and organizational leader focused on helping businesses strengthen leadership, improve culture, enhance innovation, and navigate sustainable growth.

 

His approach combines strategic thinking, operational insight, leadership development, and innovation-centered transformation to help organizations create measurable and lasting impact.

​​Dr. Tyson found that theoretical approaches to solving SME challenges often fell short. This realization led him to develop practical tactics that effectively address the unique needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to fostering economic growth, he founded StratAscension, an innovativeness consultancy. StratAscension's mission is to help people managers become better leaders, build innovative cultures, and create thriving businesses.

As the founder and Managing Director of StratAscension, Dr. Tyson brings a foundation of faith and hard work to overcome entrepreneurial challenges and create sustainable momentum. He infuses every engagement with his core values of innovation, excellence, integrity, and empathy. Under his leadership, the company has developed and facilitated the Innovation Hub powered by the College of Southern Maryland’s Velocity Center, guiding small business teams through discovery and adaptation processes to overcome growth obstacles.


Dr. Tyson has also facilitated numerous strategic planning workshops for executive teams and boards, helping them leverage the Innovativeness Leadership Framework to rethink their business trajectories from an innovative  respective. His approach focuses on enhancing people, processes, and tools through strategic execution and leadership development.

As a consultant and advisor, Dr. Tyson is passionate about growing businesses and helping leaders succeed both personally and professionally. He has been a thought partner and executive coach to numerous executives, aiding them in transitions to new roles or consulting careers. His role as a mentor with TEDCO aligns with his mission of leading innovation to market by connecting early-stage entrepreneurs with critical resources.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Tyson enjoys staying fit by training youth athletes, participating in obstacle course races, and spending quality time with his family. His holistic approach to leadership and innovation continues to inspire and drive success for businesses and leaders alike.
